President Farid Rashad

Farid Rashad was the President of the country Bashran.

History[]

In order to get a nuclear-arms treaty from a middle east country Bashran, Mellie and Olivia invited the country's President Rashad to the United States and hosted a state dinner for him. At first, Rashad said if he signed the treaty, he would either be killed or exiled by the people from his country. After almost being assassinated by a Bashrani assassin in the White House, he changed his mind and agreed to sign the treaty if his country's enemy country, Dakal, will do the same.

When the Prime Minister Nazari of Dakal was being uncooperative at the summit, President Rashad made a deal with him to allow Dakali inspectors into their nuclear facilities if he allows Bashrani into his. They've finally come to an agreement but at the same time, Bashran is taken in a coup and unseated Rashad as their president. Mellie was eager to send troops into Bashran to restore Rashad's presidency and gave him sanctuary in the States until Rashad gets his presidency back but Olivia disagreed because he was no longer a leader and that would mean they are going to war just for him getting his presidency back.

Rashad insisted to go back to his country because despite the chaos that's happening in his country, he needed to go back to protect his people. Mellie didn't want him to go back to his country because it's dangerous for him and that she cares about him and doesn't want him dead. They then shared a kiss but Mellie stopped him.

Death[]

Mellie arranged a plane for Rashad to go back to his country through Turkey because it's a safer way for him as he is returning as president. Rashed asked Mellie how did she manage to get him his presidency back but she said that she can't get into details. Rashad arrived to the tarmac and boarded the plane with his niece, Yasmeen. As the plane took off, it blew up which led him and his niece to die. It was revealed later that it was Olivia's order to B613 to plant a bomb in the plane because Mellie got too close to Rashad personally and in order to hold on to her power and get the treaty, Olivia decided to make a deal with the Bashrani rebels to kill Rashad.

While working together on Middle East peace, he and Mellie got closer each day. When Mellie showed concerns about him going back to Bashran while things are chaos, they finally kissed. However, Mellie stopped him because they had more important duties for their countries and she arranged a plane for him to go back to his country, Bashran, as he wanted to. He promised her he will come back to the U.S. but, the plane exploded which led to his death.

Yasmeen Rashad[]

Yasmeen was the neice of Rashad. He took in and looked after her after his brother, Amir, died. He changed her name from Yasmeen Rashad to Yasmeen Talebi and sent her to the U.S for her education. When he went back to his country, he also took Yasmeen back with him. Unfortunately, the plane blew up which killed both him and Yasmeen.
