"People Like Me" is the sixteenth episode of the seventh season of Scandal, and is the hundred-and-twenty-second overall.
Plot[]
On the heels of her commitment to turn over a new leaf, personal turmoil strikes Olivia once again when Mellie demands that she get rid of Cyrus once and for all.

Mellie Grant asks Olivia Pope to kill Cyrus Beene. Olivia says she doesn't kill anymore. Mellie says that this is war and that Cyrus is the architect of this war. Cyrus doesn't get to erase their climb. Jake goes to see Cyrus. He says he wants to adjust the plan and to target Olivia's team. Cyrus says no that now is the time to defend their position. Jake needs to make sure that Mellie stays a prisoner in her own home. Mellie's assistant doesn't know what to say to people who call about the President's subpoena. Mellie tells her that she doesn't want to be disturbed and she will only answer calls from Olivia Pope. Lonnie Mencken tells the public that Mellie is a person of interest in the investigation. Olivia asks QPA to help her find out where Cyrus is so that she can convince him to stop doing this. Huck asks what she's going to do if she can't convince him. Quinn says that they will hack into his phone and find evidence that he was the one behind the plane hijacking. They'll use that evidence to clear Charlie's name. Vanessa Chandler asks Jake if he's caught up in what's going on with Mellie and he says that he's been guaranteed a position in the new regime. Cyrus is looking at Mellie's poll numbers. His assistant gives him a bouquet of flowers which has a secret message in it ordering him to meet up with Lonnie. He goes to see Lonnie but instead finds Olivia and Huck waiting for him.
Marcus Walker goes to visit Mellie. Marcus says he's here to help her fight back. Mellie tells him that Olivia is doing something for her already. She has him escorted out of the Oval Office. Olivia has Huck take Cyrus's phone and goes to wait outside. Olivia tells him that he needs to call off whatever he's doing. Cyrus says that he won't. Olivia tells him that she has her team investigating him. Cyrus tells her that he has a secret service team looking for him. Olivia asks him if he wants everyone to know that the Vice President and special investigator planned their plan. She asks if he wants to go back to prison. Cyrus sits down and gets comfortable because he figures that they are going to be there a while.
Quinn gets a digital clone of the phone and together with Abby they try to hack into it. Marcus goes to see Fitz and tells him that Mellie isn't acting like herself. Fitz says he knows and Marcus asks if he cares. Fitz says he does care. That he's been there and Mellie knew what she signed up for. Marcus asks if he survived it. Marcus tells him that he seems haunted and that Mellie deserves better than that. Mellie is talking to herself in the Oval Room because she knows Jake is watching. She tells Jake that he's only followed one girl to another, one master to the next. That everyone knows what he is. She tells him that she earned this office and that they are coming for him. Huck asks Olivia if she brought a wine bottle that she poisoned. That that is her Plan B. He tells her that he just got her back and she says she hasn't done anything yet. She tells him that Plan A will work.
Olivia asks how Ella is doing. Cyrus asks if she thinks that she can guilt him into being a good person. Cyrus says that he's been thinking about Fitz and how he brought the two of them together. He asks if she ever thinks what would have happened if she'd never met him. Olivia calls him ridiculous and Cyrus tells her that he'd be exactly the same. That he's the type of person that would trade his conscience for just a stab of power. He tells Olivia that she can't do a damn thing about it. Olivia pulls out the 1976 bottle but decides that he's had enough for now. Abby Whelan and Quinn Perkins manage to unlock Cyrus's phone and learn the hackers username. They surf the dark net to learn more. Olivia and Huck are sitting outside of the room Cyrus is being kept in. Olivia gets a call from Quinn. They found the hacker but he's dead and Quinn thinks that Cyrus is going to kill Charlie. Olivia explains her plan to Huck about how she's going to poison Cyrus. She tells him that it's time for him to go.
Mellie calls Fitz. She tells him that it's lonely in the oval office. He asks if there is something he can do. She says he's doing it that he's talking to her. He gives her advice and tells her to find another way. That he was never the same after he went to the dark place. He tells her not to lose her soul. Lonnie goes to Jake because he can't find Cyrus. Olivia pours him a glass of the poisoned wine. She hesitates when she gives it to him. Jake arrives to take Cyrus back. He prevents Olivia from giving him the glass and instead hands her a gun. He tells her to kill Cyrus. He hands her the gun and tells her to kill him too. She doesn't do it. Jake tells her she wont do it because she isn't like him. That she has people to do her dirty work for her. Jake takes Cyrus and they both leave Olivia alone.
Lonnie and Jake talk about how they need to take care of Olivia Pope. Vanessa overhears Jake talking to him. She figures out that Cyrus is who he's been reporting to. She tells him that she was supposed to be Jackie Kennedy, not the wife of the vice president's bitch. Mellie is waiting for Olivia in the tunnels. She tells Mellie that she couldn't do it. Olivia tells Mellie that she's with her and that she's always been with her. That that's the only way they can beat them. Mellie says that she's with her. Mellie asks now what and Olivia says they find a way to survive. Mellie addresses the public. She tells them that she is the president and it is her duty to uphold the law not break it. That she isn't guilty. That she won't stop fighting until the truth is out.
Olivia goes to visit Fitz. She's brought him his favorite bottle of alcohol. She tells him that they should have a drink to the way things used to be. She grabs Fitz and kisses him. Cyrus goes to visit Jake and tells him that they need to change the plan. Jake says that he's already taken care of it. Cyrus gets mad because he didn't sign off on it. Jake tells him that Vanessa made it clear that their relationship was no longer a partnership so it was time to end it. Jake tells Cyrus that he'll include Cyrus in his decision making just as long as Cyrus includes him in his. Cyrus agrees to the new partnership and steps over Vanessa's dead body.
