The character of Edison Davis is a recurring character in seasons two, three and five of Scandal, portrayed by Norm Lewis.

Season Two

Edison got removed from the Senate Intelligence Committee after President Fitzgerald Grant learned that he met up with Olivia when she was digging into NSA secrets. After being kicked off the committee he paid a visit to Olivia at her office and told her that he was now a client of hers. So he began to pursue Olivia again. (Hunting Season)

A few weeks later Edison brought some of his constituents to Olivia's office because their daughter went missing and the police weren't taking the case seriously yet. Unfortunately the missing girl turned out to be a popular internet blogger who had flings with any high political figure that she could get her hands on. Edison thanks Olivia for helping the family through the tough time. (Beltway Unbuckled)

Edison continued to pursue Olivia, asking her out while she continued to deny him. After a while he finally confronted her about it and she told him that she wanted him to keep pursuing her and when she was ready she would tell him. Olivia finally said yes and they went out on their first date but she wouldn't invite him in to her place, yet! (All Roads Lead to Fitz / Spies Like Us)

A few weeks later Edison was spending a lot of time at Olivia's place. And she was helping him with a political advancement when one of her other clients, Senator Schuman, had to resign as the Senate Majority Leader. He made a play for taking over as Senate Majority Leader and succeeded with Olivia's help, and to Hollis Doyle's dismay. (Defiance)

After the attempted assassination of the President, Edison along with all of the other senior cabinet members were taken to a secure location. When Edison learned that Vice President Sally Langston was making a play to take over as President Pro Tempe he notified Olivia as soon as he could. He was in the Oval Office when Acting President Langston is sworn into office, congratulating her. (Happy Birthday, Mr. President)

His relationship with Olivia started to get rocky. He got frustrated when Olivia had her team keeping him from seeing the President in his hospital room. He became even more frustrated when she explained her system of not answering his calls. (One For the Dog)

When Olivia started to be really distant and had avoided having sex with Edison he accuses her of having an affair with the president. But later once he realized he was wrong so he proposed to her; he loves her and wanted to marry her. (A Criminal, A Whore, An Idiot, and A Liar)

Edison became worried about Olivia when he found her in an emotional comatose state in bed, so he recruited the help of her team (Harrison, Abby, Quinn & Huck) to see if they could help her. (Truth or Consequences)

After much thought Olivia returned the engagement ring to Edison. He wanted normal, white picket fence, baking apple pie but she told him she wants, "painful, difficult, devastating, life-changing, extraordinary love." He doesn't think love should be difficult. (Nobody Likes Babies)

Season Three

Season Five

Olivia Pope

Edison was engaged to Olivia. They lived together in Georgetown from 2002 to 2006. They began seeing each other again years later. Their relationship grows rocky as she refuses to open up to Edison about her past relationships. Olivia wants to keep her past romantic and sexual relationship with Fitz Grant from him, but Edison is persistent, growing increasingly frustrated with the emotional stonewalling. Edison proposed to Olivia for the second time, but Olivia finally turned down the proposal, realizing she wants a difficult, painful, devastating love rather than a normal love.

Edison had never met Olivia's family after a little pushing - and Olivia wanting to get back at her dad - Edison finally met her father, Eli Pope. Shortly after that dinner he was in a car accident, that was caused by Olivia's father. And not too long after that Olivia broke up with Edison to protect him. (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner) Their relationship sparked back up again six years later but didn't last too long.
