Curtis Pryce was a journalist, who was also the host of the political talk show named "The Pryce of Power".

About[]

The character of Curtis Pryce is a recurring character in the seventh season of Scandal, portrayed by Jay Hernandez.

History[]

Curtis' talk show was popular and watched by a lot of people. When Mellie's administration is planning to implement the “Vargas Bill”, which awards all American students four free years of college education, Olivia went on Curtis' show to gain the votes to the bill publicly. Curtis was against free college and they debated until the time's up. Curtis later asked out Olivia but she turned him down. The two eventually got together. (Watch Me)

When Mellie hosted a state dinner for President Rashad, Curtis suggested Olivia that he could be her date to the dinner but Olivia told him that the relationship stays inside the five-star hotel rooms. He later showed up at the dinner with a date. When the dinner ended, Olivia borrowed him from his date and took him to her apartment to "celebrate". When they arrived at her apartment, they found Fitz standing on her doorstep. (Pressing the Flesh)

Nora Adams, the mother of a missing girl named Zoe Adams and Fitz Grant went on Curtis' show hoping that the viewers could help Nora find her daughter. They announced the news, how she's been missing and how she wants her daughter back. Curtis then started to spar with Fitz why he didn't do anything about missing girls of color when he was the president. Fitz talked back he wasn't aware of the problem and that media is a part to blame for the problem. (Lost Girls)

Olivia suggested to Curtis that he has a talk with President Rashad on his show but Curtis took it as Olivia is telling him how to do his job. They squabbled but eventually, Curtis sat down with President Rashad on his show. When Olivia went to thank him, he told Olivia that he doesn't like her and that he made a mistake with her. (Adventures in Babysitting)

Curtis came in to QPA looking for Quinn because she left a message to him saying that the plane President Rashad and his niece were on was blown up by an American and not by Bashranis. When Olivia asked him if Quinn told him exactly who did the bombing, he said he didn't know and if he finds something, he will tell her. Though Olivia told him not to dig into it, he told her off that he will keep looking into the story. (Vampires and Bloodsuckers)

Death[]

Since Quinn told Curtis what really happened in the bombing of the plane President Rashad and his niece were in, he became a threat to Olivia and Jake. Olivia's assistant Lucy called him up to meet her in a hotel room, saying that she had information about President Rashad's assassination. Curtis met her in the hotel room and a while later she killed him. After killing him, she reported back to Jake that the job's done. (Something Borrowed)

Olivia made the appearance on Curtis' talk show to push the "Vargas Bill" and the two argued about free college on Television. Curtis was attracted to Olivia and later, he came to the White House for a media summit with the communications office then, he stopped by Olivia's office to ask her out to dinner. Olivia didn't take up the offer at first but eventually met Curtis at a bar, took control over, gave him the instructions of where to meet her at a hotel and then, left the bar. The two continued to see each other at five-star hotels until one day Olivia took him to her apartment. Unfortunately, the date got interrupted by Fitz, who's standing on her doorstep. However, Fitz's return didn't stop them seeing each other.

Later on, Curtis came clean to Olivia about how he made a mistake with her, thinking she had "human qualities". He told her he doesn't like her and he is only attracted to her because of her beauty and her power. He then broke it off with her. (Adventures in Babysitting)
